Is it called Moon Valley because of the many craters?

We heard that the valle de la luna or moon valley got its nickname from Neil Armstrong – I guess he visited the site once and said “this looks exactly like the moon.”
We are still having a good time! Starting to miss the comforts of friends and family at home though!
